Planning & Development
After extensive public consultation, and a public hearing, on April 4, 2006 Council passed the new Municipal Development Plan (MDP) and Land Use Bylaw (LUB) – which are the backbone of the County’s development strategy.
The MDP provides a framework to guide decision-making to achieve the County’s 20-year vision for the future. The MDP guides future policy, land use and infrastructure investment decisions. It ensures there is a balance between economic, social, physical development and environmental considerations. It confirms Yellowhead County’s desire to remain predominantly rural with outstanding employment and recreational opportunities. The LUB regulates and controls the use and development of land and buildings within the County to achieve orderly and economic development of land. The LUB divides the municipality into districts that prescribe and regulate the purpose for which land and buildings may be used.
