Peers IMG_2331

The Peers Area Structure Plan provides a framework for the long‐term growth and development of the lands in the hamlet of Peers located within Yellowhead County, Alberta. The overall goal of this plan is to establish policies that identify and encourage:

  • new residential and non-residential development in Peers and its periphery,
  • identify opportunities to enhance existing commercial and public spaces and
  • improve the quality of life for community landowners, residents and visitors.

A public hearing is proposed for September 12, 2017 in Council Chambers.

Aug 22 2017 Peers ASP Exec Summary

The process included community consultation meetings in Peers in January (35 attendees) and August 2017 (19 attendees).  The consultant also consulted individually with hamlet landowners.  The ASP review process included a geotechnical report to more clearly identify soils constraints on parcels with development potential. The report confirmed that most, if not all of the parcels are indeed developable with standard mitigations to address existing soil conditions.

The Peers ASP 2017 Local Steering Committee recruited by Yellowhead County consists of:

  • Marion Huggins
  • Kevin Chapman
  • David Russell (Div. 4 Councillor)
