News

Update November 14, 2019: Based on the information provided by the residents of Robb at the Community BBQ, a Vision Statement has been created to guide decision making for Robb in the future. Yellowhead County and Invistec Consulting Ltd. are looking for feedback on this Vision Statement from both seasonal and permanent residents of Robb. This feedback ensures that the Vision for Robb matches the goals of the community. Paper copy surveys will be mailed out Friday. You can also provide your feedback here

Update November 12, 2019: As part of the IMAGINE Robb project, Yellowhead County hosted a well-attended Community BBQ in Robb on October 29th, 2019. The What We Heard Report summarizes residents' vision for the future of Robb and will be used to inform the design stage of the project. You can read it here.

What is an ASP?

An Area Structure Plan (ASP) is a legal document that guides future land uses for an area. For the Hamlet of Robb, the ASP will establish a vision for the future of the community, and provide a tool for the County to manage new development, redevelopment, and infill in the Hamlet. It is a long-range document that will plan future development within the Hamlet.

What is the Process?

This project will take a 3-phase approach, as depicted in the infographic below:

How can I get Involved?

Branding Logo-02

There are opportunities for landowners, stakeholders, and other interested parties to get involved throughout the planning process. Engagement opportunities will be found on this website in the “News” section above and include in-person events, surveys, and written feedback. Look for the “Imagine the Hamlet of Robb” logo for engagement opportunities.

Who Does it Affect?

The Hamlet of Robb ASP affects landowners whose lands are located within the ASP, stakeholders, and anyone interested in developing within the Hamlet of Robb. The Plan will provide landowners, stakeholders, and other interested parties with appropriate land uses and development options for their lands based on the policies adopted within the Plan. The Plan will lay out the land uses to locate future development to be compatible with existing residential, commercial, recreational, and industrial uses.

Why Update the Plan?

While there are many reasons to review and revise planning documents, the three key reasons for updating the Hamlet of Robb ASP are:

  1. The boundary of the Hamlet has changed. The ASP was completed prior to Robb’s boundary was enlarged.
  2. County planning documents, such as the Municipal Development Plan and Land Use Bylaw, have changed. The Robb ASP needs to align with these documents.
  3. Provides an opportunity to re-imagine the vision for the community, and update it to better reflect the direction that the County and residents want to see Robb head towards.

How long will It take?

The review and update process will be ongoing for about the next 6 months, with the goal of holding the public hearing for the updated plan in March 2020.
