Campgrounds & Parks
Come and explore Yellowhead County campgrounds. Our seven campgrounds offer peaceful, quiet, family camping with a wide variety of activities for every age group. Campgrounds are open from mid-May to September.
County campgrounds are self registration parks and are patrolled daily and nightly by campground operators to ensure a safe and enjoyable stay.
Campground fees range from $15-$20 per unit per night depending on the campground and feature outhouse facilities and hand pump water wells. Firewood is available for purchase from by the Campground Operators.
There are on site campground operators at Bear Lake and Shining Bank and a reservation system.

Beta Lake Park
Situated north of the hamlet of Mackay, rests the charming Beta Lake. Quiet and serene - this is a great campsite for those who want to get away from it all and enjoy an undisturbed, peaceful time in a natural, beautiful area. Home to five campsites and two day-use sites, with clean outhouses, plentiful wood, and an user-friendly boat launch, it has everything one needs without all the crowds. From fishing to swimming, and everything in between, it's a super campground for real nature lovers!

A beautiful, quiet campground located on the south shore of Beta Lake. This campground offers good fishing for Northern Pike and Yellow Perch, bird watching opportunities as well as swimming and boating facilities.

Nojack Park
This is one lovely place especially for being located right off of highway 16 on Secondary Highway #751. Beautiful, lush pine trees give the area a wonderful, cozy atmosphere. With a shelter, drinking water, outhouses and other amenities that are kept clean and in great condition, this is a wonderful place to have lunch or spend the night if traveling on the highway.

Bear Lake
Situated just 30 km northeast of Edson, Bear Lake has something for everyone. From fishing to water-skiing, to relaxing on the beach, the campground is a definite local favorite. You cannot beat this unique mix of tranquility and activity.

Campsite Information: 34 Campsites including 6 Pull-Through Sites (no hook-ups) and 3 Tenting Sites, 8 Day Use Sites, a Sandy Beach, Playground, Boat Launch, 2 Boat and swimming Docks and, a Full-Service Concession.
Bear Lake Park remains one of Yellowhead County’s most popular Parks for water based recreation. The sandy beach, clean water, and playground facilities continue to be very popular with the younger members of the family while the boat launch and docking areas play host to the more adventuresome water enthusiasts.
During the summer months, Bear Lake hosts a wide variety of interpretive events and activities for everyone in the family. Concession is available.

Chip Lake Park is managed by the Ravine Community Association. It is situated on Chip Lake, a large shallow lake well known as a bird sanctuary. It is home to 127 recorded bird species including Whooping Cranes and Osprey. Prime time for bird watching is the spring and fall. The Ravine Association hosts a Music Festival annually in late May/ early June. A parks caretaker is available. With 22 unserviced sites the Chip Lake Park is popular locally. There is a day use and group use area. Fish for Northern Pike, Ling and Perch.

Nestled within a quiet Aspen grove, Shining Bank offers a wide variety of family camping activities. Playground facilities, sandy beach, and the roped swimming area remain quite popular on warm summer days.
Boaters enjoy the excellent launching and docking facilities provided by the County while touring one of the area’s largest lakes.

Hidden northeast of Edson, is this sparkling gem of a place. For active, nature lovers and fishermen alike who enjoy a peaceful, relaxing, secluded area it's the place to visit. Consisting of fourteen campsites, two day-use sites, a boat dock, and many other amenities one can truly enjoy a superb time at this county park!

Long Lake Campground is one of the most popular camping areas for fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts who desire a quite, secluded getaway. Come and try your luck fishing at one of Alberta’s best Yellow Perch and Northern Pike fishing locations.

Rangeton Park is a beautiful rustic campground nestled along the Pembina River, just off the Cowboy Trail (Highway 22) in between Highways 16 and 43.
The Park is a great get away, for your rustic camping experience. You will not find power or water hookups here, but you will find a beautiful, scenic, serene place where you will hear Canada Geese, and other birds, perhaps view a deer quietly grazing, or a moose passing through.
Rangeton Park is a local treasure, waiting to be discovered by passers by who may take the opportunity to check it out. They surely will not be disappointed.

On the second Friday in June you will find musicians from all over Alberta gathering for the Annual Farmer’s Day Festival. The Festival showcases local talent from a large radius around the Park and lasts for the whole weekend. This is a great family Festival! Admission is 50/adult for the weekend, camping is included.
Regular camping starts approximately May 14, 2010
Camping is first come first serve, no reservations for individual sites. Group site is available at 200/day, contact Joanne for availability.
